2023-2024 Season

The 2023 - 2024 Plum Mustangs hockey Season kicks off tonight, as the Mustangs take on Hempfield at Kirk Nevin Arena in the pre- season tournament. There has been a buzz in the barn, and the team is looking forward to getting things rolling. The Mustangs return 5 of the top point scorers from last season, senior Travis Marks, and juniors Luca Lapiana, Tyler Bresso, Nick Majors, and Brody Howell. I recently had the chance to ask new Head Coach Jon Gratton a few questions.

Q: What have practices been like?

Coach Gratton: Our practices have been fast paced and competitive. We have seen a lot of good things from each player. Everything has been based around building a culture and setting expectations for the program long term.

Q: What is the pulse of the team?

CG: Right now, they are all buying in to what we are trying to build. Both the coaching staff and the players understand that this is going to be a process. They are willing to put in the work and if we can stay on this path, they will have the ability to accomplish anything they want going into the season.

Q: What are your thoughts and expectations for the preseason tournament?

CG: This tournament will be a good litmus test for us. Practice can only tell us so much, alot changes when you get into game atmosphere. I am excited to see what we have so far and to continue to identify where we can grow and what adjustments should be made. As far as expectations, we are always out there to win.

Thanks Coach Jon! Good luck! Let's Go Mustangs!
